How to create my notāre

How do I start creating my notāre?

Your notāre is a leather journal, also known as a travel notebook, handmade in Madrid and fully customizable to suit you.

Start by choosing the collection in the size that fits you best:

  • Muse, A5 size, with more space to write, create or plan your projects.
  • Nomad, passport-size, light and easy to carry in your pocket or any bag.

Then choose the colour of the leather cover and the elastic cords that go with it. Make it yours with personalised embossing and the charms you’d like to add.

Each notāre is handcrafted from vegetable-tanned leather, made to last and evolve over time.

What sizes are available and how do I choose the right one for me?

At notāre there are two collections, matching the two sizes of the system: Muse and Nomad.
Both share the same modular structure and refillable setup, designed to adapt to the way you write and move.

Muse · A5 size

  • Offers more space to write, plan or develop ideas.

  • It’s the ideal format if you want room and structure without giving up portability.

  • Includes three interchangeable inner notebooks (refills).

Nomad · Passport size

  • Compact, light and flexible, Nomad is designed to move with you.

  • Ideal as a travel notebook or personal journal, and it fits easily in a pocket or any bag.

  • Includes two interchangeable inner notebooks (refills).

Both covers are crafted from vegetable-tanned leather, a noble, flexible material that adapts to use and evolves over time.
The modular system allows you to change the notebooks whenever you want, whether they’re notāre refills or compatible formats from other brands.

What leather cover colors are available?

Each notāre collection is available in a curated selection of natural tones, designed to reflect the essence of leather and the beauty of time.

Nomad · Passport size
Available in Noir (deep black), Terra (dark brown), and a special-edition accent in Burgundy.

Muse · A5 format
Available in Noir, Terra, and a special-edition accent in Burgundy.

All covers are handcrafted from vegetable-tanned leather, a living material that develops a rich patina with use.

What does my notāre include?

Each notāre leather journal is delivered as a complete system, ready to accompany you from day one.

It includes:

  • Handcrafted leather cover, made by hand in Madrid from vegetable-tanned leather.

  • You choose the colour of the cover and the colour of the elastic that holds it.

  • Interchangeable inner notebooks (refills).

  • notāre travel pouch, included with every order, designed to protect your journal and travel with you wherever you go.

You can also add a personal touch with personalised embossing and charms, bringing a unique and meaningful detail to your piece.

A system designed to last, evolve and adapt to you from the very first moment.

What types of notebooks are compatible with my notāre?

Your notāre is designed as a modular system that lets you easily swap the inner notebooks (refills). With the purchase of your notāre, refills in the same format are included:

  • Muse, in A5 size (14.8 × 21 cm)

  • Nomad, in passport / B7 size (approx. 9 × 13 cm)

Your notāre is also compatible with notebooks from other brands in equivalent sizes, such as Moleskine or other standard formats.

You can also add different types of notebooks: planners, diaries or special editions. Throughout the year, we’ll be introducing new limited-edition refills designed to support your organisation and planning.

How many notebooks can I insert in my notāre? How do I insert them?

The notāre system is designed to adapt to you and the way you write.
Each journal includes a set of inner elastic cords that allow you to easily insert and combine several interchangeable inner notebooks (refills).

  • The Muse format comes with three inner notebooks.
  • The Nomad format comes with two inner notebooks.

Each elastic cord can hold one or two notebooks, so you can add extra refills if you need to.

As a reference, Nomad can hold up to four notebooks and Muse up to six notebooks, as long as it still feels comfortable for you to write in and carry.

To place them, you simply slide each refill under its corresponding inner elastic. You can reorder them whenever you like: move them around, add new ones or remove those you no longer need.

The modular notāre system lets you add, remove or change refills at any time, while keeping the original structure of your journal.

Can I emboss my notāre?

Yes. You can personalise your notāre with artisan embossing, turning it into something truly your own.

The embossing is done on the vegetable-tanned leather cover, applying heat and pressure by hand. It’s meant to be concrete and meaningful: you can add up to 6 characters in uppercase letters for a clean, legible and timeless result.

You can also choose between three embossing finishes:

  • Natural, tone-on-tone, subtle and discreet, more noticeable to the touch than at first glance.

  • Silver, with a cool, metallic and elegant look, easy to read.

  • Gold, the warmest and most luminous finish, with a soft, special sheen.

Each embossing is made to order, taking care with every detail to respect the texture and natural character of the leather.

What are charms and how many can I add?

Charms are small, meaningful accessories that personalise your notāre and create a connection with it.
You can use them to add a symbolic detail or to subtly distinguish your piece.

In the standard configuration:

  • On the cover you can add one charm.

  • On the spine you can add several charms, depending on what you need for your Muse or Nomad.

Each charm is attached using the notāre elastic system, and you can swap or combine them whenever you like.

If you have a specific layout in mind, for example using charms intended for the spine on the cover or an unusual combination, that is also possible.
In that case, simply select the charms when placing your order and email us at hello@notareconcept.com with your order number and your instructions on how you would like them to be arranged.

This way we can make sure the final result is as close as possible to what you had in mind.

What is the cover made of and how does it evolve over time?

Each notāre is made from 100% vegetable-tanned leather, a natural material treated without harsh chemicals. This type of leather preserves its original texture and, over time, develops a unique patina that reflects how each person uses it.
It evolves with use: it softens, gains nuance and keeps its character, adapting naturally.

Each cover is crafted by hand in local workshops in Madrid, where it is cut, dyed and assembled with careful attention to detail.

How should I care for the leather cover?

The leather of your notāre is a natural material that evolves over time and gains character with use.

  • Cleaning: wipe it with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or surface dirt.
  • Conditioning: from time to time, apply a thin layer of neutral balm or cream suitable for vegetable-tanned leather, spreading it with gentle circular movements.
  • Protection: avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, direct sunlight or intense heat.

Your notāre comes with a travel pouch, designed to go with you wherever you go.
Each cover reacts differently depending on how and where it is used, so no two notāres are the same: every piece develops its own character over time.

Where is my notāre made?

Each notāre is handcrafted in Madrid, in collaboration with local workshops specialized in vegetable-tanned leather.
We work with European tanneries and carefully selected suppliers, choosing materials and processes with a conscious approach.
Every piece goes through several stages of cutting, dyeing, and hand-finishing, which means no two notāres are exactly alike.

A slow, human process that reflects the craftsmanship and attention to detail that define notāre.

What does sustainability mean to Notāre?

At notāre, we understand sustainability as a form of respect — for time, for materials, and for people.

That’s why we work with vegetable-tanned leather, natural and chemical-free, which evolves beautifully over time without losing its character.
We produce in small, local series, avoiding excess and prioritizing durability.
In addition, the modular refill system allows you to use your notāre for years, replacing only what’s necessary.

We believe that true sustainability lies in creating something that lasts — and stays with you.

Orders & Shipping

How long does it take for my order to arrive after I place it?

Usually, your order follows these timings:

  • Preparation in the studio
    Once your payment is confirmed, we need around 2 to 4 business days to prepare your order and hand it over to the courier.
    If your notāre includes personalisation with embossing, the preparation time may be extended by up to 2 additional business days.

  • Shipping and delivery
    From the moment your parcel leaves the studio and is collected by the carrier, most orders are delivered within approximately 2 to 4 business days, depending on the destination country and the shipping provider.

These timeframes are estimates. During busy periods, special campaigns or due to transport issues or customs checks, delivery may take a little longer.

As soon as your order leaves the studio, you will receive an email with a tracking number, so you can check the status of your parcel at any time.
If you notice that your order is taking significantly longer than these estimates, you can email us at hello@notareconcept.com with your order number and we will look into it with the courier.

Do you do international shipping?

Yes, we do ship internationally.

At the moment we ship to:

  • Mainland Spain, Balearic Islands and Canary Islands

  • Several countries within the European Union

  • United Kingdom

  • Switzerland

At checkout you’ll see whether your country is available and the exact shipping cost, calculated according to the destination.
Please note that for shipments outside the European Union or to special tax territories, additional import duties, customs fees or handling charges may apply. These are not included in the shipping cost shown on the website and, if applicable, must be paid by the recipient upon delivery.

If your country does not appear as an option at checkout or you need a special solution, you can email us at hello@notareconcept.com and we will review your case individually.

How much is shipping?

Shipping costs are not included in the product price.
The exact shipping amount is calculated automatically at checkout, based on the destination country and the delivery options available, and you will always see it before confirming your purchase.

How can I track the status of my order?

When your order leaves the studio, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking number.
From that link you can check at any time where your parcel is in its journey.

Can I modify or cancel my order after placing it?

If you need to modify or cancel your order, please email us as soon as possible at hello@notareconcept.com, indicating your order number.
If your order has not yet entered preparation or been shipped, we will do our best to process the change or cancellation.
For personalized orders that are already in production, it may not be possible to modify or cancel them.

What do I do if there is a problem with the delivery of my order?

First, check your tracking number to see the most recent information provided by the carrier.
If the status does not update for several days, shows an issue, or you believe your parcel may be lost, please contact us at hello@notareconcept.com, indicating your order number.
We will follow up with the shipping company and let you know the next steps.

Can I send my order as a gift?

Yes. Every notāre order is prepared with considered packaging, ready to be given as a gift.
We do not include price details inside the parcel (your payment information is sent by email).
If you would like to add a short message for the recipient, you can write it in the order notes and we will do our best to include it whenever possible.

Do you offer express shipping?

In some destinations we offer express delivery options in addition to standard shipping.
If express shipping is available for your address, you will see the corresponding option at checkout, together with its cost and the estimated delivery time.
If you have a very tight deadline, you can email us at hello@notareconcept.com before placing your order and we will check with you whether it is feasible.

Payments & Returns

What payment methods are available?

You can pay using credit or debit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay (when available), or PayPal.

What is your returns and refunds policy?

Returns can be requested within 14 days from the date your order is delivered.
We can only accept pieces that have not been used and are returned in their original condition — including the pouch, box and any other elements they arrived with.

Please note that personalized or engraved pieces are made especially for you and cannot be returned or canceled once production has begun.

To request a return, write to hello@notareconcept.com with your order number and we’ll guide you through the process and share the return address.
For sustainability reasons, we ask that returns are made responsibly and using a tracked shipping method. Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility.

If your order arrives damaged or with a defect, we will personally handle the process and cover the return costs, following the instructions we provide. We may ask for a few photos so we can resolve the issue quickly.

Once we receive your return and confirm its condition, we’ll process your refund within 14 calendar days.
The amount will be refunded using the same payment method used for the purchase.
Original shipping costs are non-refundable, except in cases where there is a defect or an issue with the order.

In which currency is the payment made?

All payments are processed in euros (€).
The total amount will be shown in this currency before completing your purchase.

Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes in my country?

It depends on the country you are ordering from.

Within the European Union (except for certain special tax territories, such as the Canary Islands), it is generally unlikely that additional customs duties will apply, and VAT is usually included in the price you see on the website.

For destinations such as the Canary Islands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and other countries outside the EU, your order may be subject to local taxes, import duties and/or handling fees charged by the carrier.
These amounts are not included in the shipping cost shown at checkout and, if applied, must be paid by the recipient upon delivery.

If you are unsure about the fees that may apply in your country, we recommend checking with your local customs office or the shipping provider before placing your order.

If you’re having trouble accessing your account, please try resetting your password using the “Forgot your password?” option on the login page.
You’ll receive an email with a link to create a new password (if you don’t see it, please check your spam or promotions folder).

If the issue persists or you don’t receive the email, contact us at hello@notareconcept.com with the email address you used to register and, if possible, a screenshot of the error. We’ll help you restore access as soon as possible.

Do you have a boutique or showroom?

Your notāre can only be acquired through our official website, where each piece is prepared individually.

Throughout the year, we take part in pop-ups, presentations, and collaborations with like-minded brands across Europe.
